OK, so Mitt wants to play a little 3-card Monty with the tax code. He'll cut taxes on the wealthy, but also raise taxes, so the the wealthy will pay less, and more and the same. And so will everyone else. So don't worry about it. This game is easy. All you have to do is watch, and trust me.

Someone has to say this. I don't recall this much outrage from the Catholic church when their priests were molesting boys. But having an insurance contract coverage something as sinful as contraception -- they have to take a stand against that. They should be gentler with the world.

I grew up in suburban Binghamton, which is to say not too far away from the downtown area where this happened. I have a good friend who works just blocks from the shooting.

After seeing a NOVA episode about this, I determined that Element 126 would plausibly fill a big hole in the plot of a novel I had thought about for a long time.
